An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africa's Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santeria, Candombié, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji
Oshun is the orisha of the fresh waters, the goddess ofthe river that shares her same name. she bringsprosperity and fertility to her worshippers, she especially watches over the poor and the sick, as she is said to heal the sick with the power of water. Oshun is also the orisha of love, she is often represented as a beautiful young women or a mermaid. With the African diaspora, Oshun was brought to the Americas and adopted into the Cuban, Brazilian and Haitian religious belief systems.
